Dry Christmas Tree Causes Fire Damage in Ocean City Home?
1/3/2023 (Permalink)
Our Fort Walton Beach technicians respond to fire damage emergencies throughout the year in Ocean City. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) wants residents to get rid of their trees after Christmas or when the tree is dry. Here are some tips for preventing Christmas tree fires from the NFPA:
After Christmas
Get rid of the tree after Christmas or when it is dry. Dried-out trees are a fire danger and should not be left in the home or garage or placed outside against the house. Bring outdoor electrical lights inside after the holidays to prevent hazards and make them last longer.
Okaloosa County Christmas Tree Recycling
The Okaloosa County Solid Waste Office reports that residents of unincorporated Okaloosa County may dispose of live Christmas trees as part of residential yard trash pickup.
- Place live trees at the curb on your regular yard trash pickup day
- Please remove lights and ornaments
If you have an artificial tree, you can place them at the curb for bulk waste pickup. Please contact the Okaloosa County Solid Waste Office at 689-5774 if you have any questions.
