SERVPRO'S Experts Explain the Need For Technology With Water Removal
When a property owner in Mary Esther calls us for assistance in restoring their property after a disaster affects them, we send out our crews. Along with our IICRC-certified employees, we stock our Green Fleet with the latest types of equipment to get the job done fast and correctly. We always want to do a thorough job and keep current damage from spreading.
Why SERVPRO does this when Mary Esther residents need our water removal services is simple. We know that not only does standing water respond better to submersible pumps mounted on our trucks and that air drying works best for smaller structures. We need to use both, and others, to dry out your home, so it is once again “Like it never even happened.”
We invest in the equipment used to mitigate homes and stand by our work. We also train extensively to keep ourselves informed of new developments in the restoration industry. Then we bring these skills when we work on your home, removing water and drying both the walls, floors, and other structures, so permanent damage does not occur.
Other items we use during a water removal job include our air movers. These machines are much more potent than a typical household fan. Able to change the air in a room several times in an hour, these whisk moisture off of surfaces and into the air.
Once the air begins to hold water vapor, we need to heat the area so its air can hold more. We use heaters to do this, which protects your HVAC system. As the air becomes more and more saturated, we use desiccant machines that steadily strip the water vapor out of the air. To keep microbes from proliferating and spreading, we also set up several air scrubbers to clean the air on both microorganisms and spores.
Water Removal and Deodorization for Your Mary Esther Home
Another problem that comes along when you need water removal for your Mary Esther home is the removal of any odors caused by materials in your home being saturated with water. Not only do you need a professional who can remove the water, but you also need a company who can successfully deodorize your home as well. When you look at our staff and training standards, it is easy to see why SERVPRO is a smart choice in these situations.
Our first step in deodorization is to remove the source of the odor. Therefore, in a water damage situation, the removal of the moisture is our priority. Sometimes, effective deodorization requires us to use multiple methods, as one deodorant might not work on all odors. SERVPRO staff have specific guidelines for production for three processes of deodorization which include dry fogging, wet fogging, and activated oxygen.
With our injection method, we inject small amounts of deodorant into spots on upholstery or carpeting with a needle and syringe or a pump and injection needled. It is an especially helpful method when it is not practical to lift the carpet to get to the padding.
Direct spraying includes using a hand pump or powered sprayers to pump products in the area affected. Direct spraying is usually used in water damage situations to apply disinfectants. It wets the surface being treated, so it is used where discoloration does not matter or is unlikely.
Wet fogging disperses solvent and water-based deodorizers with an ultra-low volume fogger. The foggers create tiny deodorant particles, which penetrate most areas where odor particles hide.
We use high-velocity exhaust fans to ventilate your home both before and after deodorization. These fans ventilate your structure quickly and shorten the time needed before you can return to your home after deodorization is complete. Air scrubbers can also be used to remove airborne particles, plus chemicals and odors from the air. The devices draw dirty air through a series of filters, while capturing odors and particles, and then puts out clean air back to the environment.
