Hurricane Season is Approaching
While severe storms are part of life in Florida, and even unnamed ones can cause substantial damage, our techs want to remind you that hurricanes are especially dangerous. Traditionally, hurricane season has been thought of as starting June 1st (just around the corner!) and ending November 30th; in the past few years, however, hurricanes have started appearing earlier.
Fort Walton Beach condensed some tips from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) about preparing ourselves for hurricanes.
FEMA suggests we have these supplies on hands for at least 3 days of power outages and lack of transportation (due to flooded roads, for example):
- Water
- Nonperishable food
- Flashlights with batteries
- Hygienic items (toilet paper, toothpaste, etc.)
- Devices and batteries
- Medicine, copies of prescriptions
- Pet/baby/child supplies
We hope for the best, but we’re prepared for the worst.
